Lending A Helping Hand: Support A Fellow Entrepreneur Through A Difficult Time

At Blossom & Thrive BOSS Networking Mixer on Friday, December 6th, we had the privilege of hearing from so many amazing women who inspired us on so many levels. One of those women was one of our own vendors, Rosalie Williams-Douglas, founder of Naami Eyewear.

Rosalie shared a deeply personal and heart-wrenching story about losing her only sibling just a few days before the event. The loss came suddenly and unexpectedly, especially given that her sibling was relatively healthy. It left her in complete shock, but beyond the grief, she faced an overwhelming financial burden that none of us could have anticipated.

Her sibling had no insurance or savings, and now, instead of being able to focus on grieving, Rosalie is left to navigate the complicated, painful reality of how to give her sibling a proper burial. She described the surreal feeling of balancing the sadness of losing someone so close with the urgent need to raise funds for a funeral. Each time she tries to process her grief, she is reminded of the gap between what’s needed for a dignified farewell and what she has been able to raise so far.

To help cover the costs, Rosalie started a GoFundMe campaign, reaching out to her network of friends, family, and even strangers for support. While she is grateful for the donations, the emotional and financial burden remains heavy. It’s an incredibly difficult position to be in—caught between the desire to mourn and the urgent need to secure the funds to give her sibling the farewell they deserve.

The truth is, no one should have to go through this. In the face of such a profound loss, the only thing someone should have to focus on is remembering the good times, the love, and the memories shared. The financial gap should never even exist.

This is a powerful reminder of how crucial it is to plan ahead. Rosalie’s story underscores just how important it is to have proper planning in place for the unexpected. It’s not just about finances; it’s about protecting our loved ones from additional stress during an already painful time. With the right planning, these burdens can be alleviated, and loved ones can focus on what really matters: healing.

Please consider supporting Rosalie’s GoFundMe campaign if you can, and let’s come together as a community to ease her burden during this difficult time.
